The promising Australian Bloodstock horse Danceteria is being set for the Cox Plate after a decisive win in the Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr Preis Bayerisches Zuchtrennen in Munich last month recording a 117 Timeform rating. He is expected to have one more run in the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes (2000m) at Leopardstown on Saturday September 14th before flying out to Australia to contest the Cox Plate.
Prior to winning in Munich, Danceteria ran a respectable 4th behind Enable and Magical in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse, positioning too far back on that occasion to be a factor. On that occasion he ran a 118 Timeform rating.
On ratings, Danceteria still has more improvement required to feature as a key contender in this race though, with Winx recording ratings of 133, 126+ and 129+ the past three years taking out the race.
While there is no Winx to beat this year, Avilius is a key contender in the race and recorded a 125 Timeform rating at Randwick when winning the Ranvet Stakes. Mystic Journey is also well fancied in the early futures market and she recorded a 124 Timeform rating in the All-Star Mile.
At the current price, Danceteria isn’t a current bet in the Cox Plate, but if he is to win well at Leopardstown, I could entertain the price. He is expected to run in the Caulfield Stakes on October 12 and also the Mackinnon Stakes on November 9, so there are a few options available for interested futures punters.
Unlike most in the game, Drew wasn’t born with a form guide in his hand or a great love for the game. Drew became interested in horse racing after starting his website, The Profits, in 2012 focusing on NBA and AFL. Entering the twitter landscape, Drew quickly saw the engagement and passion shown by the community for horse racing and started looking deeper into the data before previewing his first race in 2013. What started out as interest in a sport has quickly turned into a love-affair that will last a lifetime.
